"Scout" / Marie Lund

Scout, is a solo exhibition by Marie Lund in the gallery’s second space in Mérida, Yucatán. Scout is a project where the artist has devised a transformation of the sculptural work beyond her control, involving the space, the climate and the duration of five months in the making of the work. In April she arranged a series of copper-sheets on top of concrete casts in the open-air space, and left them to the elements over the rainy season. Over the course of the summer months the local vegetation has been allowed to grow freely, surrounding the sculptures in the space.

The copper sheets, titled Raising the Vessel, are part of an ongoing series created by the continues hammering onto copper sheets, producing recessed areas and causing the surrounding surface to rise and warp.
